Reducing IgE antibodies in people with allergic rhinitis and asthma has been the target of a great deal of research by Cobalis and other pharmaceutical companies throughout the world. Basically, less Immunoglobulin E (IgE) means less release of histamine and other mediators of inflammation. By acting on the immune system before the release of histamine, the need to block histamine is reduced.
Cobalamins are complex natural substances needed for the survival and reproduction of all mammalian cells. Cobalamins are the only molecules in humans that contain the element cobalt, and are structurally in the class of Vitamin B12. Murine (mouse) studies suggest that cobalamin deficiency causes certain T-cells to participate more aggressively in the production of IgE antibodies. Furthermore, cobalamin deficiency elevates the ratio of helper T-cells to suppressor T-cells. IgE content was found to be significantly higher in cobalamin deficient subjects than in control subjects.
Cobalamin appears to cause a recovery from imbalances in helper and suppressor T-cells, as well as certain immunomodulating substances responsible for the allergic response.
It appears that for cobalamin to be effective in treating humans with allergic disease, an individual’s blood serum level of cobalamin must be elevated with pharmacologic doses of cobalamin and that level must be sustained for several weeks. PreHistin™ contains a synthetic form of cobalamin, called cyanocobalamin.
By lowering the over-production of IgE, only small amounts of histamine are released from mast cells. Preventing release of histamine eliminates both the debilitating symptoms allergy sufferers feel during allergy season, and the need to constantly take powerful antihistamines and other allergy drugs to fight these annoying and unnecessary symptoms.
We further believe that various formulations and usage regimens of PreHistin™ may have similar reduction or preventive results in pediatric doses, and for outdoor, household, food and pet allergies. Cobalis Corp. is committed to researching and developing such formulations and seeking additional indications for PreHistin™ for a wide range of allergic disease.
PreHistin™ Is Safe
Cyanocobalamin is recognized as safe by the FDA and by regulatory authorities around the world.
With respect to cobalamin, “based on a review of data involving high dose intakes, that there appear to be essentially no risks of adverse effects to the general population even at the current ninety-fifth percentile of intake (approximately 37 µg/day) (IOM/NAS 1998)”. There are no known contraindications associated with cobalamin usage (other than sensitivity to cobalamin itself) and no known upper-dosage limit for cobalamin (Click here for details).
There are no reports of cobalamin over-dosage in the literature.

PreHistin™ lozenges can be taken anywhere at any time. The ease and convenience of this method will, naturally, make it easier for patients to comply with usage directions and complete an entire regimen, suggesting the likelihood of an overall decrease in the need for other allergy medications.
